The list of top ten cases of empowering rural revitalization through cultural tourism was released on February 26. Shibadong Village in Xiangxi was on the list, becoming the only one selected in Hunan Province.
To consolidate and expand the achievements made in poverty alleviation in coordination with the extensive drive for rural vitalization, Shibadong Village leverages the advantages of natural and cultural tourism resources, and vigorously develops Red, green and folk cultural tourism through the integration of industry, agriculture and cultural tourism, making it an important destination for rural tourism. In 2023, more than 838,000 Party members and cadres nationwide visited Shibadong Village.
Today, the cultural tourism industry has become an important driving force for rural revitalization. The living environment of rural areas in Xiangxi Prefecture has been significantly improved. The history of rural areas has been effectively protected, and the level of rural civilization has been continuously enhanced.
Local people have benefited from the improvement of people’s livelihoods, changes of village appearance, cultural inheritance and industrial development. More than 500,000 people lived a new life through tourism industry. Cultural tourism has empowered rural revitalization.
